A bookkeeper focused on sustainability?
You probably haven’t heard of it before.
There aren’t many B Corp accounting or bookkeeping businesses in Australia—but we’re out to change that.
Inspired by ethical businesses like Patagonia, Owners Collective, The Very Good Bra and Compass Creative Studio, we believe in using our for-profit business as a force for good in the world.
As accountants, we love a healthy profit and cashflow. As a sustainable business, we love what profit allows our conscious clients (and us) to do in the world.
In November 2023 we achieved our B Corp certification after 18+ months of working towards it. We are so proud of becoming part of a global community of businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental impact.

We’re lucky enough to have several B Corp certified clients, and many others who are focusing on more sustainable business practices. They have inspired us. And we, in turn, hope to inspire others to go on this journey with us.

We became a Certified B Corporation in November 2023. This means we are counted among businesses that are leading a global movement for an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy.
Our mission hasn’t changed. We’ll always strive to free purpose-led business owners from financial stress so they can grow their sustainable b. But we can do it without leaving a messy footprint on the environment.

You are the company you keep. And we can’t think of a community we’d rather align ourselves with than the ethical businesses in Australia donating part of their sales to saving our planet. We’re committed to gifting more than 1% of our sales to charitable causes.

We love “account”ability (pun fully intended). So we amended our company constitution to ensure all of our decisions have an overall positive impact on society and the environment. It’s literally baked into everything we do.

To get our clients the best results, we need to know the intimate financial details of their business (and sometimes their personal expenses). Trust is a 2-way street. That’s why, where possible, we offer full transparency in all our pricing structures and business dealings.

Everyone does their best work when they can balance life’s demands with their employment. We celebrate who our staff are both inside and outside of the virtual office. That’s why we provide:

Staff don’t have to be based in northern NSW (where our owner Bec is based) to work for Straight Up Bookkeeping. There’s nothing like working virtually to make you realise just how important community is. That’s why we’re committed to giving back to the places that support our staff to do their best work with paid volunteering days.
